When it comes to supplements, although many are beneficial to health, the vast majority are relatively useless. When choosing supplements, it’s important not to get swept up in the current hype around new, untested products, as many of them will have little or no effect. The best supplements to take are basics, such as multivitamins, vitamin D, vitamin C, vitamin K2 and fish oil. All of these supplements address deficiencies that are very common and most of them will improve your overall health.

Another important consideration when choosing supplements is the quality. Vitamin D for example, comes in the forms vitamin D3 and vitamin D2, where vitamin D3 is the naturally occurring form that your body can easily use, and vitamin D2 is not generally used by humans and is therefore less beneficial. Higher quality supplements have a far greater effect on health, and many low quality supplements don’t improve health at all.
