I bought my mother a blueberry KitchenAid Artisan Mixer for her seventieth birthday. She was absolutely delighted but angry at me for spending so much money on her. But she deserves it after all the years she spent looking after me when we were poor.

Back then we did not have much in the way of kitchen equipment and any money we had went towards food. I have done well in life since then and my mother’s life is a lot more comfortable. She has her own little house which I have set her up in and I like to buy her nice things from time to time.

The Artisan is routinely named as the best home food mixer in the world, so I had to get it for her. The blueberry colour is a bit wild, but I know she likes the colour because she made positive comments about this very colour of Artisan when we saw it on television together during Saturday Morning Kitchen.

Don’t you hate getting a wedding invitation from someone who is at best a peripheral figure in your life? There should be a law that says you can only invite people in your immediate circle to your wedding. The problem here is, of course, finding an appropriate gift for such people. You absolutely don’t want to break the bank when purchasing a wedding gift but you don’t want to come off looking like Scrooge, either. Whenever I get an invitation to one of these things I always go to the same site and pick out Electric Burners and Skillets as gifts. These everyday household items don’t cost a fortune but at the same time they don’t come off as looking uncaring and heartless. Who among us can’t find a good way to put a burner or skillet to use in a household? It’s a win-win as far as I’m concerned.

Simple to store and ideal for small meals. I really like and use this a lot more than my double fryer or my crawfish pots for making fried food. This is an excellent cooking device for 2 people. Cuts down on unused oil being tossed out or contaminated due to it being stored inside the unit with a lid to cover. I needed something that would truly get to a hotter frying temperature, to make my frying quicker and more “healthful” (healthy frying, is that a contradiction or what). Because I do not fry that often, I just needed something easy. I just put the basket into the grease and drop the fish in. Does a fantastic job, and I’m very satisfied with mine. When you are through, if you are planning to reuse the grease you can just let the machine cool, snap the plastic top on, the put the whole thing in the fridge. However I just love it! The taste of frozen french-fries cooked in thia deep fryer, instead of having them dried out and hard from being cooked in the oven, is indescribable.

My grandmother has just bought a new egg cooker. I was with her when she went to the shop because I wanted to make sure that she gets something good. She finally decided it was the time to switch from the old version of making eggs to the newest invention, the egg cooker. As she said, now she has too many nephews that come over to her place and she cannot prepare so many soft boiled eggs at the time. The egg cooker will save her time and will make sure that the eggs are perfectly soft boiled. We went to her place after the shopping and tried on the new egg cooker. I graduated from college many months ago, but I have not been able to find a job. In order to earn some money to pay back my college loans, I have had to start working at my father’s bakery. Since I have a degree, he made me the manager of his restaurant. I have a lot of things that I have to do there, like making sure that the employees are doing their jobs correctly and talking to customers about their complaints. Right now, the most important thing that I have to do is buy some new professional bakery supplies. All of the muffin pans at the bakery are very old and black from being in the oven, so my dad wants me to find a store that can sell us some affordable new pans. I hope that I can find some for him, because I can’t afford to lose this job.

I own a Landmann Black Dog Charcoal Grill and I think that it is the best charcoal grill. The cooking surface is over five hundred square inches so it easily accommodates enough food to feed our family or a bunch of party guests. I love the fact that it has a storage area with large doors and shelves under the grill because I can use it to keep all of my grilling supplies handy. It is so much more convenient than running into the kitchen to get things that I forgot to bring out because our patio is at the back of our yard where we can enjoy the shade of the trees while we eat. There is also a big shelf on the right side of the grill that is great for holding plates of food. The last charcoal grill that I owned had the shelf on the left side and that was awkward for me to use because I use my right hand to do everything.
